Technological innovations can significantly change the social and economic structure. We are currently experiencing the ongoing digitalization in many areas of social, cultural and economic life.

Digitization has resulted in a strong boost of data collection, storage and processing. Applications based on these data volumes and which process the data automatically on the basis of artificial intelligence and machine learning are already widespread in society and the economy. In the future, these data-driven applications will increasingly influence the behavior of people in economic, cultural and social contexts.

In order to bundle the competencies and research available at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences in the area of Big Data and Data Science, it was decided to establish the Business Analytics and Data Science Center (BANDAS Center) in March 2019. Due to the expansion of the corresponding methodological competence, new focal points can now be set.
